          2007 Christmas party and gifts for need for the needy children and familys

          We honor retiring Mishawaka teachers with a major dinner celebration.

          Downtown beautification by supplying 64 flowering planters.

          Establish an endowment fund for community projects.

 

 

HISTORY

 The Rotary Cabin for disabled campers at the RES. This represented a $5,500 investment.
Financial support for several Eagle Scout projects at the RES.

Rotarians filled sandbags and placed these on the creek banks to stop erosion.

Rotary Track Meet for the three Mishawaka High Schools: Marian High School, Mishawaka High School, Penn High School

Chicago Cubs Winter Caravan

Scholarship sponsorship at Penn High School and Mishawaka High School.

Establish an annual program for the Mishawaka Community that features a nationally
known motivational speaker.

Sponsorship of an International Ambassadorial scholar in Ireland. (See Below)

Our Ambassadorial Scholar

Andrew DeKever served briefly on board the U.S.S. John F. Kennedy as a member of the U. S. Embassy staff in Ireland during the aircraft carrier’s visit to Dublin.


Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholar Andrew DeKever left his home in Mishawaka, Indiana in July 1995. He went to Dublin, Ireland to begin his work towards a master’s degree in peace studies at the Irish School of Ecumenics. Some of his courses included: international politics, conflict resolution, the United Nations and peacekeeping, non-violence, and politics of development.

Concurrently, he began serving as a U. S. Army second lieutenant in the Defense Attache’s Office in the U. S. Embassy in Dublin. One of his duties was to assist with the arrangements for President Clinton’s visit to Ireland in 1995.
