MONDAY, AUGUST 3,
2009
TODAY
Our program scheduled for this date has been
postponed and will be rescheduled. President Margaret will be the program
today and will be discussing club business.
FUTURE
PROGRAMS
AUGUST 17
This is the date of our annual visit by the
District Governor. Our District Governor for the 2009-10 Rotary Year is
Floyd Lanncia. Board members should plan to meet with the District
Governor at 11:00 AM.
AUGUST 24
Congressman Joe Donnelly will be
our speaker.
MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR:
AUGUST 29
We will be
serving the evening meal on this date for Hope Ministries which will be a
cookout. Don Bloore will have more information concerning this in the
coming weeks.
DON’T FORGET…….
AUGUST 28
Time is closing in on
our annual golf outing. We'll be reminding all members each week to be thinking
about soliciting all of the various things that are needed for a successful golf
outing which, Chairman Dave says, will be occurring on this date. Needed,
of course, are foursomes, door prizes and tee sponsors.
There is a sign up
sheet for help on the day of the golf outing.
DUES
Treasurer Don
is now accepting payment of dues for the coming Rotary year. Remember that
because of increases in Rotary District and Rotary International dues, our club
dues will be increased to $170 for the coming year. Remember, too, that
you may pay the full $170 now or $85 now and $85 in six
months.
MICHIANAOPOLY
We all need to continue to keep this
project in mind. As the name implies, this is a board game similar to
Monopoly, but everything about the game must be named differently from the
corresponding Monopoly names. There are many options to sell the many
spaces on the board to local businesses (or even to local individuals).
Many spaces have been sold, but with all of the options that are available, much
selling is yet to be done.
LAST WEEKMike Stack, Director of
Public Relations for St. Joseph Medical Center was our speaker. The new
$355 Million Dollar hospital on Douglas Road is scheduled to be opened on
December 14th. This new facility will have a total of 633,000 square feet
with 254 private inpatient rooms on 90 acres. The new hospital will
maximize patient safety, increase efficiency for those who provide care, and
create a healing and relaxing environment. There is also a two story diagnostic
and outpatient treatment center which includes an emergency department, imaging
and diagnostics, surgery and cath lab, interventional cardiology and conference
areas. Directly north of the hospital is a medical office building for
physician offices. This medical office building is connected to the
hospital via walkways on the first thru fourth floors. The facility is
designed to grow with plans to expand the two story diagnostic and treatment
center and addition of another 100 bed patient tower. For more information
you can access their website

THOUGHT
FOR THE WEEK
A sense of humor is part of the art of leadership, of getting
along with people, of getting things done.
