The history of early Great Lakes missionary work includes priests like Fathers Vincent Baden, Gabriel Richard and Frederic Baraga. Serving alongside with them was Father Francis Xavier Pierz, whose main missionary focus was the western part of the Great Lakes, including Detroit, Green Bay, and many more places. He was already sixty seven years old, when he arrived at St. Cloud, Minnesota in 1852 and he spent the remainder of his life establishing a strong Church. The book covers historical events in Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota from the mid 1770's to the mid 1800's, then focus on St. Cloud from 1852 to 1880 when, at the age of ninety-five, Pierz passed to his eternal reward.

The congregation was organized in November of 1841, and by 1844 Keller had become its minister. There are two meetings in Indiana with the name of Honey Creek. One is in Howard County. This book covers the Honey Creek meeting in Vigo County, Indiana. The abstracts in Part One are comprised from Men's Minutes, 1820 and 1826 through 1829; Women's Minutes 1825 - 1829 (the early records are missing); and some loose pages containing Marriage Certificates and Removals. After the Separation in 1829, the Honey Creek monthly meeting continued as a Hicksite meeting. The membership was scattered and there were several subordinate meetings. For a while some meetings were held in Union, Crawford County, Illinois. The abstracts in Part Two come from the records compiled by William Wade Hinshaw and are now deposited at the Friends Historical Society, Swarthmore, Pennsylvania.
